If you thought that it was hard to play golf using expensive, technologically advanced clubs that improve both your accuracy and power, you should try using hickory clubs.
Jordan Spieth set out to do just that, challenging himself by agreeing to swap out his usual clubs for an old hickory set. Just to ensure that he was fully in character, Spieth also elected to wear classic golf attire. How did one of the world's top golfers fair using wooden clubs? Not as well as he originally thought he would.
From the sounds of it Spieth was making pretty solid contact, but judging by his call for a mulligan on the first shot, the ball probably didn't end up anywhere close to where he wanted it to. After taking a few drives, Spieth commented on the overall performance of the clubs, jokingly griping that "you lose a lot of power and control."
Confirmed: Jordan Spieth will no be playing with hickory clubs at the Masters.
