Ever since his first NHL game, Auston Matthews has been taking the NHL by storm.
The Maple Leafs' rookie doesn't play like he's a rookie, and it seems like he's wise beyond his years on and off the ice.
Part of what make Matthews great and such a valuable player for Toronto is that he plays centre, meaning he has so much more responsibility in the defensive end of the ice and the faceoff circle.
Offensively, Matthews has incredible skill and size, and those two qualities had Jonathan Toews comparing the young forward to two of the NHL's best players.
High praise to say the least from the Blackhawks captain as Patrick Kane (72 points in rookie year) and Evgeni Malkin (85 points in rookie year) are two generational talents that have been key contributors on Stanley Cup winning teams.
Toronto fans are hoping Matthews can do the same, but the pressure won't only be on him.
The Leafs have an incredible rookie group that is much more than just Matthews.
Toronto fans are surely anxious to see if the Leafs' young guns can keep up with the skilled Blackhawks as Chicago is in town Saturday night.
