Joel Embiid's body is not only built for basketball, its built for home run derbys, too.
Think about it, with Embiid's wingspan and height advantage, the NBA centre could probably cover ten seats across and ten rows back. Monday, the Sixers star was in attendance for the Home Run Derby at Marlins Park in Miami, and it appears Embiid was even involved in one of the plays.
At about the five-second mark you can see the ball hit off of Embiid's arm (three chairs to the left of his own seat), and at the eleven-second mark you can see the centre shake off his hand like the ball had struck him.
Breath easy Sixers fans, Embiid was not injured on the play, and better yet, he still got to go home with a baseball. At least we think that's a baseball in his hand. It's hard to tell, because by the way Embiid's got that thing in his hand, it looks more like a walnut.
If you trust the process, you get to go home with a baseball.
