The Los Angeles Kings have kind of been behind the eight ball, figuratively speaking, since early in the season when Jonathan Quick was injured.
Although Peter Budaj has come in and kept the Kings afloat in the Pacific division race, the team has been inconsistent to say the least, which is a probelm considering how much talent is on the roster.
Tuesday night, the Kings began a critical stretch in their season as a they started a nine game road trip in Buffalo. Unfortunately they dropped the game 6-3, and afterwords, Jeff Carter ripped into his team with some NSFW work language.
The difference in record in terms of home and away for the Kings is pretty substantial. Los Angeles is 10-4-1 at the Staples Center and 4-8-1 away from home this season.
Most of the Kings' roster knows what it takes to win the Stanley Cup and how long the season is. Although they are not in a playoff spot right now, they're tied with Nashville for the final Wild Card spot, so despite how poorly they've played on the ground, they're right in the think of things.
The Kings can make up some ground on the Preds and Oilers as they face both teams on this road trip, along with some other good teams like the Penguins, Blue Jackets and Red Wings.
