A lot has been made of Jaromir Jagr’s age over the last couple years as he continues to defy the odds and remain a competitive player in the NHL game.
Of course, his speed isn’t what it used to be, but his puck control and hockey IQ have been more than enough to make him a top-6 option. Only one other player has been able to keep up this kind of proficiency over the age of 45 and he’s another legend. You probably could have guessed by now that the other player is Gordie Howe – who until last night was the only person to notch a 1 goal-1 assist game over the age of 45.
Still, with this impressive feat, Jagr was more impressed with one of his teammates after the game. Jagr’s goal was assisted by Johnny Gaudreau, who totaled three points on the night (2 goals, one assist). That prompted Jagr to say some pretty nice things about the NHL’s third highest point-scorer this season.
