JT Brown made headlines across North America at the start of the NHL season when he became the first player to protest during the national anthem.
He received a lot of criticism and praise, which came as no surprise considering it has been a polarizing topic in other sports, but most importantly, he received support from those around him. In a post today on Twitter, Brown revealed that he received support from friends, family, teammates and his organization for exercising his first amendment rights.
He also stated that he is done raising his first during the national anthem and what he plans to do to take action on the awareness that he spread with the initial demonstration.
Brown is making a serious commitment to bettering his community through building relationships, giving back to charitable police organizations, experiencing police officers’ job first hand and much more. Part of the discussion about the protests recently is how the original message from Colin Kaepernick had been obfuscated by other narratives, but JT Brown has righted the ship in his circle.
Not only did Brown communicate a clear message of his intentions, successful shedding light on the issue at hand, but now he is taking genuine strides to combat the concerns first hand.
He even tweeted a video of himself going through some police exercises last week and it looks intense.
