The Pittsburgh Penguins finally got their first win of the season on Saturday night but it came at a price.
With the Nashville Predators on the man advantage late in the first period, Roman Josi attempted to get a shot on net but it never made it there thanks to Ian Cole, who got in the way of the shot and blocked it with his face.
Cole ended up taking Josi’s shot directly off his mouth and lost quite a few teeth and part of his jaw on the play, but somehow managed to get up and skate away seconds after it happened.
On Sunday morning, the former first round draft pick shared a pretty gruesome photo of what the inside of his mouth looked like when he went back to the dressing room.
It definitely could have been a lot worse considering he took a slap shot directly to his face, so it’s nice to see he’s doing alright after that incident.
It’s unknown how long he’s going to be out of the Penguins’ lineup, but you never know when it comes to Cole considering he played most of last year's playoffs with a broken hand and broken ribs.
