Monday night's game between the Hurricanes and the Red Wings took a scary turn during overtime when Carolina netminder Eddie Lack had to be stretched off following a collision with Detroit forward Andreas Athanasiou.
After the frightening collision, Lack remained down on the ice for several minutes, surrounded by players on both teams who had formed a circle around the netminder, waiting to see if he was alright. Lack was eventually stretched off the ice and taken to UNC Rex Hospital. Tuesday, the Hurricanes took to Twitter to announce that Lack's scans had come back negative and that he had been released from the hospital after being diagnosed with a neck strain. The Hurricanes also took the opportunity to thank the Red Wings players and fans in Detroit for their classy showing of solidarity.
Late Monday evening, Lack expressed his gratitude to fans and players who had shared their thoughts and prayers following the scary incident. From the sounds of it Lacko Taco will be A-OK.
