The 2017 IIHF World Championship wrapped up on Sunday night in Germany and Sweden ended up defeating Canada 2-1.
The two sides went back and forth all night long and put on quite the show for the fans in attendance and those watching at home.
However, international tournaments mean all important games end in a shootout. As you probably guessed, hockey fans were not happy with the way the tournament ended, especially with a gold medal on the line.
While there were a lot of fans who were upset with a gold medal game being decided through a shootout, a lot of fans were very happy for Swedish goalie Henrik Lundqvist.
You never want to see an important game get decided in a shootout, but that’s just the way it goes sometimes. Both teams played fantastic all tournament long and the better team in the final game came out on top.
