There are both pros and cons of this time of year for university-aged hockey fans in North America. The main pro is that the first round of the playoffs are on, the one that many would argue is the most entertaining. The main con, of course, is that this is a time of year when most students are preparing to write their final exams.
A group of students at the University of Ottawa were forced to write an exam during game five between the Ottawa Senators and Boston Bruins, but fortunately for them, their professor was generous enough to provide them with an update of the score during it.
Would you have provided this update if you were the professor? On one hand, you’re probably relieving some stress off of students who were wondering what the score was. On the other, finding out the tight score probably added additional stress on the students. The exam finished before the game headed to overtime, but can you imagine what would have happened if an update was provided after Boston won 3-2? Some tables probably would have been flipped.
Ottawa leads the series 3-2 and will play in Boston on Sunday afternoon. It will be interesting to see if other faculty members will follow this professor’s lead.
