The Ottawa Senators have a truly dedicated fan base, and head coach Guy Boucher is very thankful for it.
Thursday, the Senators and Penguins played an entertaining Game 7 in Pittsburgh that unfortunately ended with the final Canadian team being eliminated from cup contention. Upon arriving home early Friday morning in Ottawa, the Sens got a special surprise in the form of a rally from a large group of fans who assembled outside the airport in the rain.
Despite having just lost in overtime in Game 7 of a conference final, Boucher made his way over to a group of fans to personally shake each and every one of their hands to thank them for their support.
Senators fans took a fair amount of heat from other fans around the league all throughout the playoffs due to their early-round attendance numbers. But as these fans at the airport showed, the Sens have a fanbase that's just as dedicated as any other in Canada.
