While we like to think that this world is a wonderful place and nothing ever goes wrong, the truth is that is not the case.
Unfortunate events happen all the time, but that doesn't mean that there isn't still good left in the world.
Allow us to explain where we're going with this. Wayne Mattice, a Belleville resident, had his vehicle broken into on Monday, and his son's goalie equipment was stolen.
Wayne's son Jake plays for the Belleville Junior Bulls, and after the equipment was stolen, his family created a GoFund Me account to raise money to buy new equipment.
As many of you know, goalie equipment isn't cheap, so the GoFund Me account was a good way to raise money to replace the stolen property.
When local photographer Joe Belanger heard the news, he shared the story on Facebook and it caught the eye of Flyers goalie Steve Mason among many other people.
As soon as Mason saw the story, he got in touch with the Mattice family and eventually offered to get Jake a new set of pads, a new blocker and a new glove, essentially replacing all of the stolen equipment.
According to Jake's dad, the equipment will arrive on February 4th.
While unfortunate incidents such as this one happen more often than we'd like to see, it's important to note that there is so much good in this world, and a small act of kindness such as this one from Mason can go a very long way.
