It's been a tough season to say the least for the Detroit Red Wings.
Not only is it their last season playing at the Joe Louis Arena, but it also looks like the team's streak of 25-straight trips to the postseason will come to an end as the Red Wings are double digit points back of a playoff spot and last place in the Atlantic.
In terms of player struggles, nobody is having a more frustrating season than Riley Sheahan. The 25-year-old scored a career-high 14 goals last season, but through 63 games this season, he hasn't found the back of the net.
Wednesday night, the goalless drought hit a now low for Sheahan as he joined the history books in one of the worst ways possible.
The previous record of 84 shots without a goal was held by Craig Adams when he played with the Penguins in the 2009-10 season.
Sheahan is up to 86 shots on the season without a goal, meaning he's clear of Adams, who played all 82 games that season without scoring a goal.
Hopefully Sheahan can end the streak soon, and he'll get his next chance to get the preverbal monkey off his back against the Blackhawks Friday night.
