Giancarlo Stanton is probably the last person in the MLB that you want to piss off.
Of course, Aaron Judge made his statement in that category this year at the home run derby, but nobody has hit the ball as hard and as consistently over the past couple years as Stanton. So, when you strike him out, probably make sure you don’t face him again tomorrow before celebrating.
That is something that Jason Grilli did not think to do, and he did one of his classic Grilli celebrations after striking out Stanton on Tuesday night. Then, the big man got his revenge last night.
In our opinion, both of these outcomes are great. Grilli definitely ended up on the losing end of these celebrations, but he’s been on the winning end of many others.
Blue Jays fans know these celebrations well, and actively cheered them on while the relief pitcher was with Toronto because they get everyone else pumped up. There’s nothing wrong with celebrating a little, but at the same time, there’s nothing wrong with being a little salty after someone celebrated at your expense.
Stanton should want to get vengeance and he most certainly did. That bomb to left field was his major league-leading 33rd of the season, continuing a crazy month for the Marlins slugger.
