Theme nights are a big thing in sports, but over the years we’ve seen a lot of teams repeat the same theme nights year after year.
The Georgetown Hoyas men’s soccer team did something different with one of their recent promotions and it was one like we’ve never seen before.
Known as Millennial Day, the men’s soccer team went all out and managed to combine just about every millennial stereotype into one theme night.
The first 500 people in attendance received their very own participation trophy just for showing up, and the day also included things such as a cell phone use only section where all verbal conversations were prohibited, a dabbing-friendly safe space, and a stadium-wide nap during halftime.
The team was all in on the event from day one as they even included hash tags in their press release.
At #MillennialDay, you can expect only the most #awesome giveaways (because millennials expect everything to be free) and the most hella cool activities. So that everyone feels welcome at Shaw Field, a #dabbing safe space will be roped off, as well as a halftime naptime break if you ~can’t even~ stay awake for the whole game.
If you’re #thirsty, enter the raffle for a DC area juice gift card. As long as you’re like, basically on time for the game, you will be greeted with not only words of praise but also a PARTICIPATION TROPHY because all #millennials are #special. And for all your social media needs, our mascot, Jack the Bulldog, will be available to take some #Kardashianworthy pregame selfies that you can take and post for either during the game or for a hype #tbt.
The students seemed to get a kick out of the promotion and it ended up being a hit.
Since millennials are known for having a short attention span, they also offered different ticket prices based on how much of the game they actually wanted to watch or based off their work history.
