We don’t really see goalies these days rely on their sticks to come up with saves as much as we used to, but when we do it’s usually a beautiful sight. Medvescak and Salavat Yulaev went head-to-head in KHL action on Friday night Medvescak goalie Michael Garnett showed us why goalies should rely on it a little more.

The two teams were all tied up at two with less than two minutes to go in the game and that’s when Salavat Yulaev got a huge break. Medvescak’s Blake Parlett put a little too much on his clearing attempt and ended up getting a delay of game penalty. With Salavat Yulaev pressuring late, that's when the former Atlanta Thrashers goalie came up with the biggest stop of his career.

Former NHL defenceman Sami Lepisto was the player who was robbed on the wide open cage. His eyes probably lit up as he saw the puck come his way, thinking he was about to be the hero for his team and seal the victory. Instead, he was left shaking his head in disbelief.

The game ended up going to overtime thanks to that huge save by Garnett, and they eventually went on to win 3-2 in a shootout all thanks to him.
