If you picked David Johnson at the top of your Fantasy Football draft, then you’re likely drowning in your own gloom.
During Sunday’s match against the Detroit Lions, Johnson went down in the third quarter after being hit hard following a catch at the Lions’ 3-yard line. He later went back in following the hit, but fumbled the ball, which is where Johnson was injured, according to Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians.
On Monday, it was revealed that the Cardinals star running back dislocated his wrist. Head coach Bruce Arians didn’t give a set timeframe of how long Johnson could be out for, but did say Johnson will require surgery. Some reports have noted that Johnson may miss a good portion of the season, potentially missing 8-12 weeks.
Understandably, fans that selected Johnson are now browsing over the waiver wire in hopes of finding someone to carry the load, although Johnson is unequivocally irreplaceable since he was highest pick in average draft selections in pretty much any type of scoring system.
As you could imagine the reactions from when Johnson went down were predictable after Johnson left Sunday’s game.
After the news broke that Johnson will miss significant time, the outpour on Twitter ramped up even more.
Johnson put up a monstrous 2016 campaign for the Arizona Cardinals, leading all running backs in the NFL in receptions with 80 – only 16 receivers in the league had more grabs. The former Northern Iowa Panther was a staple inside the red zone last season by notching a combined 20 touchdowns.
