Dallas Cowboys fans will have to wait at least one more year following their elimination from the NFL playoffs.

One of the most popular (as well as least popular) teams in the NFL hasn’t won the big one since 1996. That two decade drought is hard to deal with, and it doesn’t help that they’ve watched their division rival New York Giants lift two in that time, as well as their other division rival Philadelphia Eagles hoist it last year.

Many blame head coach Jason Garrett, who many ‘Boys fans can’t believe is still in charge, while others question the legitimacy of Dak Prescott as a starting quarterback in the league. Whatever the case, the Cowboys have hit the links and that’s that.

Well, at least it is for most. Longtime Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who has never been afraid to speak his mind, recently took to the airwaves and explained another reason the Cowboys bowed out earlier than hoped.

Joining radio station 105.3 The Fan, Jones explained that the Rams field conditions were partially to blame, and that they did not have the proper footwear to compete effectively.

“I’ve had the benefit of the tape, looking at the tape, the evaluation by both scouts as well as the coaches. We frankly had never gotten traction. And I mean that literally. That was a slippery field. If I had to do it over again, we would be really scrutinizing our footwear. Our cleats. We had trouble digging in, so to speak.

“Well you say, ‘That’s an excuse.’ It is not because not only physically but we had trouble digging in with just the effectiveness of our defense. And we did not stop them, and we did not stop the run.”

It’s not mentioned whether he thought the Rams had “better” or “more appropriate” footwear, but fans have taken to the internet to call out Jones. Essentially, the main argument is that the Rams were playing on the same field and the field conditions would never favour one team over another.
