Alexander Ovechkin scored his 545th and 546th goals and 1,000th point last night, passing Maurice Richard on the all-time goals list in the process.
Ovi has been an absolutely elite goal scorer since he entered the league and if you’ve seen many of his goals, you know where he has been especially elite. It has looked like the Washington Capitals power play has been running replays for the past 11 years, as Ovechkin sits at the top of the left circle, and crushes one-timers by goalies on almost a nightly basis.
It is one of the main things that has turned the Washington Capitals’ power play into must-watch TV over the years, but some people are starting to think it’s unfair. Well, only one person and he’s joking. Eddie Lack, who we’re sure speaks for all goalies, wants to make a change to make things a little harder on The Great 8.
Honestly, we’re not sure it would help. Eliminate that spot and Ovi would set up just outside of the trapezoid. Unfortunately, Eddie Lack, other goalies in the NHL and basically anybody who has to try to stop Ovechkin will just have to deal with his freakish-like abilities.
