The Cincinnati Cyclones and Quad City Mallards went head-to-head in ECHL action on Wednesday night. Fans who showed up to the game got to catch a live hockey game, enjoy $1 beers (if they were 21 or older), and even got to witness the extremely rare goalie fight.
The two teams went into the third period all tied up at 1, but the Cyclones scored two quick goals in less than 90 seconds and that’s when the tempers started to flare.
That’s when Cyclones goalie Michael Houser decided to step in to handle things himself.
Unfortunately for Houser he ended up on the wrong side of the altercation, but kudos to Mallards goalie Adam Vay who recognized that his opponent was immediately hurt and made sure he was alright before he skated away once the referees arrived.
Both goalies were kicked out of the game after the fight, while Vay received 19 penalty minutes and Houser received 17.
There’s no update on Houser’s status, but hopefully he’s alright after taking those shots to the face and falling as hard as he did.
