Due to some incredible chirps and troll jobs in the NBA recently on social media, specifically from C.J. McCollum who roasted Chandler Parsons and the Kings trolling the Cavs, the NBA had to get involved this week to stop the chirps and mocking.
As per a report from ESPN, here's some of what the league's social media memo says:
“As a result, we want teams to be aware of the NBA’s rules with respect to the use of social media by teams. As with in-game entertainment, teams are prohibited from mocking and/or ridiculing opponents (including teams, players, team personnel (including owners) and opponents’ home cities) and game officials on social media in any form, including through statements, pictures or videos.”
In other words, no more trolling, no more insults, no more chirping, no more "L's," and quite possibly no more fun on social media for team Twitter accounts.
That being said, the Hawks and Kings, who played against one another Friday night, cleverly found a way to somewhat mock the social media warning by trading compliments on Twitter rather than chirps.
The Kings and Hawks clearly have some clever people running their Twitter accounts.
This exchange almost reminds us of what NFL teams did when the league imposed their own social media ban that stated they couldn't use in-game highlights.
As much as it's all sunshine and rainbows on social media between the Kings and Hawks, it's the exact opposite on the court as Atlanta's up big as the fourth quarter approaches.
