To say things got heated during the Golden State Warriors’ overtime loss to the Memphis Grizzlies last night would be an understatement.
After blowing a 24-point lead, Warriors forward Draymond Green gave MVP candidate Kevin Durant an earful.
Following the game, Durant told the media that the altercation was about how he handled a late possession in which he went iso when Green thought a pick-and-roll was coming. Green was also interviewed after the loss and had this to say:
The following is an excerpt from For The Win:
“I’m actually happy we lost today because there are some things that we need to correct in order to win a championship. That’s our goal. Our fourth-quarter offense has been atrocious.”
Green is right. When you’re clearly one of the top teams in the league, you need a good on-court fight and kick in the butt to get your focus back. It’s safe to say though that there are very, very few players that are more animated than Green.
