What's the first word that comes to mind when we mention the name DeMarcus Cousins?
Big, strong, and talented are all good choices, but temper is probably the more appropriate word. Cousins' talent has been overshadowed over the course of his NBA career by his temper on the court that almost always seems to lead to a technical foul.
After finishing second in the NBA in technical fouls last season with 17, Cousins is tied for first this season with Dwight Howard with 9 techs.
Tuesday night against the Blazers, it seemed as though an ejection was in the cards for the Kings' big man in the late in the fourth quarter, until it wasn't.
The officials thought Cousins spit out his mouth guard intentionally, but after further review that wasn't the case, so DeMarcus returned to the game and helped his team overcome Portland in overtime.
After the game, though, Cousins wasn't very happy with the officials as evidenced by this entertaining rant.
Cousins is in the same boat as Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors is. Their reputation makes them easy targets for officials, and if there's an occasion where something is borderline, more often than not both would get the short end of the stick in the eyes of the officials.
It's unfortunate, but that seems to be the case when it comes to Cousins. Yes, a good majority of his technical fouls are probably warranted, but not all of them.
Still, Cousins didn't let the refs bother him too much against the Blazers as he dropped 55 points in the win.
