Ian Happ was selected 9th overall by the Chicago Cubs in the 2015 MLB June Amateur Draft, and he’s shown nearly all season long why he was a first round pick.
Through 93 MLB games, Happ has 21 home runs and 55 RBI to go along with seven stolen bases, a .256 batting average and a .329 on-base percentage, but he had a rough night in front of his hometown on Wednesday night.
In the top of the fourth inning, the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native stepped up to the plate and had an at-bat that’s going to be on highlight reels for many years to come.
The 23-year-old took about three steps out of the batter’s box before his bat caught him to him and sent him tumbling down the first base line.
It was a rough night overall for Happ as he finished 0-3 with two strikeouts, but at least the Cubs managed to snap their three-game skid with a 1-0 victory.
