The New Jersey Devils opened up their 2017-18 preseason with a home game against the Washington Capitals on Monday night.

Since it’s already a given that Cory Schneider will be the team’s starter this season, the Devils decided to roll with Keith Kinkaid and Scott Wedgewood between the pipes for their preseason debut.

Although the Devils decided to leave Schneider off their roster for Monday night’s game, it doesn’t mean he got the night off. Instead of starting between the pipes or taking in the game from the bench, Schneider was actually working undercover as an usher during the game.

The team did a very good job with Schneider’s makeover, but his nametag was a bit of a giveaway as it read “Corey S”.

It’s pretty sweet that the Devils fan got to meet his team’s starting goalie and got a brand new jersey during what was probably a quick bathroom break.

This will be Schneider’s fifth season with the Devils and he’s looking to bounce back from a down year where he went 20-27-11 with a .908 save percentage and a 2.82 goals against average.
