St. Bonaventure and VCU went-to-head in college basketball action on Saturday afternoon. With VCU up 65-63 with 3.2 seconds left in the game, the Bonnies’ Matt Mobley made a huge three-pointer with nearly no time left and everyone in attendance thought that was the game.

However, they thought wrong.

Due to the fact that time did not officially expire yet, the fans who decided to run onto the court to celebrate what they thought was a victory actually ended up costing their team the game, as the referee called a technical foul which allowed VCU to force OT, where they eventually went on to win 83-77.

It’s easy for the players to put all the blame on the students who didn’t know what they we’re doing, but he head coach Mark Schmidt took a different approach in the team’s post-game press conference.

That really is a brutal way to lose, but the coach makes very good points about the fans keeping them in the game because of their involvement in the game.
