The Wake Forest Demon Deacons went head-to-head with the Virginia Tech Hokies at the Barclays Center on Wednesday night. The first half ended up going in Wake Forest’s favour, as the Demon Deacons took a 44-37 lead into halftime.
After a shot attempt goes wrong for the Virginia Tech shooter, the ball comes loose and found its way into Wake Forest’s Greg McClinton’s hands with less one second left on the game clock. That’s when the forward decided to casually chuck the ball at his opponent’s net with absolutely nothing to lose.
It’s a good thing he decided to chuck the ball because it ended up extending his team’s lead before the half.
As great as the buzzer beater was, Wake Forest lost momentum in the second half and ended up losing 99-90 due to a 62-46 second half performance by the Hokies.
