No one has more power at the plate than a batter who has been intentionally thrown at.
Tuesday, Orioles third baseman Manny Machado found himself the target of a purposefully misthrown pitch from Red Sox hurler Chris Sale. The pitch was likely thrown by the Red Sox ace as a form of retribution for Mookie Betts getting pegged on Monday night. Both teams received a warning, but Sale technically received two. The second warning? Don't throw at Machado or he'll hit a home run off you, which is exactly what he did later int he game in the seventh inning.
Speaking after the game, Machado explained how Sale's throw was the final straw for him and caused him to lose respect for the Red Sox organization.
It's only May, but this AL East rivalry is dog days of summer hot.
