Over the past year, we have seen many NHL teams have to look for an emergency backup goalie the day of a game. It has already happened to both the Vancouver Canucks and Ottawa Senators this season, and the Chicago Blackhawks followed the trend last weekend when they had to bring on an emergency backup goalie of their own for their game against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Chicago's AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs, had a game in Michigan in that day, so the Blackhawks had to look elsewhere. The team ended up bringing Flyers Skate Zone employee Eric Semborski on board for the game, but they never had to turn to him during the game. However, game action or not, Semborski is getting his very own NHL trading card.
What a week it has been for Semborski. First he got the call from an NHL team and got to suit up with them for a game, now he has his very own trading card for proof.
