Champions Hockey League action continued on Friday night as HC05 Banská Bystrica of the Tipsport Liga went head-to-head with Grizzlys Wolfsburg of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.
Grizzlys Wolfsburg got off to a quick start as they scored two goals within the first 10 minutes of the game and then added another late in the second period to take a 3-0 lead into the final frame. Less than one minute into the period, defenceman Olivier Dame-Malka got his team back into the game by scoring a goal from centre ice.
Dame-Malka caught Grizzlys Wolfsburg’s goalie Gerald Kuhn by surprise as he wasn’t expecting to have to deal with a shot from that far out, especially with his team up 3-0, but it happened and it ended his shutout.
Luckily for Grizzlys Wolfsburg, Alexander Weiss made it a three-goal game less than a minute later because Ban Bystrica put together a late comeback with two goals in the final three minutes.
