The Montreal Expos are one of those relocated franchises that will never truly die. The fan base remains strong and many hope for baseball to return to Montreal in the near future.
In the meantime, Bryce Harper hopes to make it up to them.
In an interview with USA Today, Harper was discussing how he doesn’t want to look to far ahead (Towards his massive free agency pay day), and is instead focused on winning. In this interview he points out that he just wants to win. He wants to win “so bad”.
That’s a very nice sentiment, but, unfortunately for the 24-year-old superstar, it appears most Expos fans aren’t particularly fond of the Nationals.
Bryce unknowingly stepped on an internet landmine here, something he should be fairly familiar with at this point. He knows the history of Montreal, but isn’t particularly familiar with any of the fans himself. Similar to how he knows what memes are, but based on how he says the word, doesn’t spend too much of his time talking about them.
