Bryan Bickell made his return to the ice in Carolina on Thursday night after he had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis back in November.
The Hurricanes lost 3-0 to the New York Islanders, but in a way it was a win for the Carolina Hurricanes and their home crowd, who got to see Bickell back in action on home ice for the first time since being diagnosed with MS.
The 31-year-old Orono, Ontario native met with the media after the game and couldn’t help but get emotional when answering questions.
It’s really tough to watch the entire scrum without fighting back a few tears of your own.
It’s amazing to see him fight through what he’s gone through this season and get back out on the ice with his teammates.
