If you're going to take a shot at a professional athlete online, you should at least take into consideration that they may respond to your jab. And if they do, you're probably going to get steamrolled in your notifications.
Saturday, Nick Bonino swapped jerseys with the Stanley Cup finalists, signing with the Nashville Predators on a four-year deal. Upon the announcement of the deal, Bonino took to Twitter to thank fans in Pittsburgh for their support during the two years that he was with the team.
Of course, with Twitter being the snarky forum that it is, one fan just couldn't help but try to spoil Bonino's goodbye tweet, poking fun at the centre's use of the word "Pitt" which in most cases refers to the University of Pittsburgh.
The fan may have jumped into the kitchen, but he certainly could not take the heat, as he made his account private shortly after being chirped directly by Bonino.
That comeback is definitely going to get consideration for the Hockey Tweet Hall-of-Fame. Leave it to an NHLer to know how to absorb a chirp and dish a far better one right back at someone. It may be the summer, but Bonino is in playoff form chirp wise.
