The 2017 Karjala Cup got underway on Wednesday night with games taking place in Sweden and Switzerland.

Team Canada opened up their tournament with a game against the Swiss in Switzerland and fans were treated to quite the battle on the opening day of the tournament.

The two teams failed to find the back of the net in the opening frame and Team Switzerland got a golden opportunity to strike first early on in the second period. However, the game remained scoreless courtesy of an unbelievable save by former NHL goalie Ben Scrivens.

Although Switzerland managed to score the first goal of the game shortly after the big save by the former Toronto Maple Leafs goalie, Team Canada came out on top 3-2 thanks in part to that robbery by Scrivens.
