The Belleville Bulls were an OHL team from 1981-2015, but after the team departed for Hamilton following the 2014-15 season, Belleville hockey fans were left without a team to cheer for.
However, next season will be different as the local fans will have another team to cheer for.
The Belleville Senators, formerly the Binghamton Senators, will make their AHL debut next season and will now be a lot closer to their NHL affiliate.
On Tuesday afternoon, the team used a fantastic video to unveil their first-ever logo in franchise history.
Similar to the Ottawa Senators’ logo, the AHL franchise will outfit themselves with a black “B” outlined in white and red, and will sit over top of singular red and black stripes framed within the black border.
“Our goal was to create a symbol that is transcendent,” said Rob Mullowney, Chief Operating Officer of the Belleville Senators, in a release on the team’s site. “Our fans will come from many different regions, backgrounds, cultures and lifestyles, and we hope to create a home for them all within our team. This emblem is intended to appeal broadly, no matter who is wearing it, how they are wearing it, or what they are wearing it on.”
The team also released their official wordmark, which also has a traditional feel to it and will supplement the primary logo in various contexts.
The Sens will play at the newly renovated Yardmen Arena and will play their first home game on November 1, 2017.
