Two of the top teams in the American League have been going head-to-head this weekend in Houston as the Boston Red Sox are taking on the Astros in a three-game series.

After the Red Sox took game one of the series on Friday night, the Astros were looking to bounce back on Saturday night.

Leading 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning, George Springer stepped into the batter’s box and ripped a hard hit ball down the third base line. The Astros’ right fielder ended up with a double on the play due to a fan interfering with the play.

MLB: Red Sox 1, Astros 7

With all the cameras in the stadium, the Astros fan would have been picked out of the crowd by security anyways, but the young Red Sox fan didn’t want to take any risks of being accidentally tossed out and was quick to give up the person responsible for the interference.

Springer would have most likely ended up with at least a double anyways, just like the play-by-play announcer states during the live commentary of the game, but it’s still upsetting to see a hometown fan interfere with his team while they’re trying to add to their lead.

The Astros went on to crush the Red Sox 7-1 to improve to an MLB-best 46-23.
