Andrei Markov made a tough decision to leave the NHL this past summer so he could return back home to Russia to join Ak Bars Kazan of the KHL.

On Thursday, Ak Bars Kazan went head-to-head with HC Lada Togliatti and the 38-year-old defenceman put together another solid performance. HC Lada managed to find the back of the net less than a minute into the game, but that lead was taken away less than six minutes later when Markov scored his first goal with his new team.

Rocking the “C” with his new team, Markov hasn’t lost a step in the KHL and has one goal and five assists for a team-high six points through the first four games of the season and he’s helped lead his team to a perfect 4-0 record to start the season.

The last time Markov played in the KHL was during the 2012-13 season and he finished with one goal and five assists in 21 games, so it’s safe to say he’s well on his way to a career-year in the KHL.
