We're not sure how many games Anders Nilsson will play in for the Canucks this season, but we do know that he has some of the best goalie equipment in the NHL.
We also know he'll do anything for his family, like dress up as Spider-Man for his son's birthday.
And lastly, we know he has one of the weirdest tape-jobs of any goalie in hockey and here's the photo evidence to prove it.
As you can see, it looks like Nilsson almost has an entire roll of tape on the part of the stick goalies hold it from.
It looks odd to say the least, especially when you compare it to Jacob Markstrom's stick that features a more conventional tape-job for grip. Although odd, there's a reason behind Nilsson's tape-job and Reddit User 2minforgoaltending explained the reason in great detail on the thread:
Again, it looks weird, but the benefit of the tape-job is clear as it cuts down on the transmission of vibrations to the hand, much like grip does the same for metal baseball bats.
When Nilsson's in net, you can't notice the tape (obviously), but we did find this picture in which you can see the tape:
Now, the next time you see a goalie with this tape-job, you'll understand exactly why they have it thanks to Reddit User 2minforgoaltending.
