Kevin Durant's return to OKC was filled with angry encounters, but he got the last laugh.
There are a lot of narratives that are built out of hype by the media, but this isn’t one of them. They clearly aren’t fans of each other and their beef played out on the court tonight. Perhaps that’s where KD could have used the extra security, because it certainly looked like it might come to fisticuffs at several times throughout the night.
First, there was this screen that Durant tried to set on Westbrook, which led to Westbrook giving Durant a hard shove.
Next, there was the joke rivalry turned real as Andre Roberson and Kevin Durant bonk heads in a heated exchange.
Next, Durant and Westbrook had a heated exchange at half court, which Enes Kanter and other Thunders players off the bench to yell at KD too.
Finally, KD capped the night off with an absolute dagger in Westbrook’s face, from what looks like 30 feet out.
Although the game was never close, the theatrics of the night definitely lived up to the hype.
