Some athletes just run into tough luck.

It’s terrible when a player is unable to participate due to an injury, and it’s even worse when it's caused by something completely unrelated to the sport (which actually happens more than you might think). With that in mind, here’s a look at other athletes who were forced to miss time due to an odd injury.

Dustin Johnson

Dustin Johnson finally got his Green Jacket, but do you remember when he fell down a flight of stairs a few years back and injured hi back, forcing him to ultimately withdraw from the major? He came a long way before earning that first Masters title.

The former leafs goaltender had a passion for playing the bagpipes, but it surprisingly caused him to miss a few games. Healy sliced his hand open and was forced to receive stitches after attempting to repair an old set.

Greg A. Harris

The former Rangers reliever was forced to miss two games due to elbow inflammation. The root of it? Flicking too many sunflower seeds at his friend in the dugout during a game.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Trevor Bauer

If you can recall, Bauer was forced to leave game three of the ALCS agaisnt the Toronto Blue Jays due to excessive bleeding. He cut himself while trying to repair a drone.

Svein Grondalen

In preparation for an international match, the Norwegian defender decided to take a run. Oddly, he somehow managed to run into a moose, and the collision ultimately forced him to leave the international matchup.

Lionel Simmons

The former Sacramento Kings small forward was forced to miss two games during his rookie season due to tendenitis in his wrist and forearm. The injury was caused by playing too much gameboy.

Considering the amount of different gaming systems that are out today, it’s surprising that this isn’t more common in today’s athletes.

The legendary pitcher once missed a start after he was supposedly bitten by a coyote.

What?

Tom Glavine

Some cases of food poisoning can be so bad that it can apparently shatter bones. During the 1992 MLB season, Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Glavine used so much force while vomiting, that he cracked a rib.

Ouch.

We know that these sevens athletes, along with Johnson, are just a small portion of pros that have suffered head-scratching injuries. Let us know which one you think is the worst!
