Late in May, a rumour started going around the internet that the Toronto Maple Leafs would be rocking a red jersey next season for Canada’s 150th year.
Of course, next season there are no alternates and there’s no way the Leafs are going to change their colour scheme for an entire season, so it was quite silly. Still, apparently it picked up enough steam that some overseas websites have started to pick up on the design and it has become a real counterfeit jersey (You know what we mean).
We’re not going to link to the website for obvious reasons, but here is what the jersey (Which is basically just a Canadian World Cup jersey) looks like.
Fake Leafs Red Jersey
This inspired us to find 4 other jerseys from websites in which fake designs were made into counterfeit jerseys. Some of them have some stories behind them so we’ll include that as well.
Flyers 2012 Winter Classic Fake
This one was just a fan’s jersey concept that somehow tricked some websites into churning out some actual fabric versions of these. We can’t imagine they were too popular, so some of them are still hanging around on random websites.
Nike Captain America Team USA
There was definitely not an avengers themed hockey tournament at any point, but with the gimmicks in the last World Cup, who knows what could happen next time.

We’re not even sure what to make of this jersey split/logo change.
