The summer is the season of money in the NBA and NHL. With free agency well underway, players are getting paid boatloads of money, which isn't surprising at all.
Stephen Curry, a two-time MVP finally got paid by the Warriors, and on Thursday, the NHL's reigning MVP got paid, too, but what he got was significantly less than what Curry got.
Players in the NBA are getting paid a lot more money, and there are obvious reasons for that (the NBA makes more money, less players on the roster, much higher salary cap).
That said, we're not concerned with the reasons right now. What we are concerned with, however, is displaying to fans how much more some NBA bench players are making than McDavid.
Feel free to use this information however you'd like, we just wanted to provide context on how low McDavid's salary is for the 2017-18 when you compare it to the salary of these 5 bench players.
Allen Crabbe, Portland Trail Blazers, $18,500,000
Greg Monroe, Milwaukee Bucks, $17,884,175
Enes Kanter, Oklahoma City Thunder, $17,884,175
Ian Mahinmi, Washington Wizards, $16,661,641
Tyson Chandler, Phoenix Suns, $13,000,000 (34-years-old)
This is not a slight at the five players listed above because they're talented and do a lot of things for their team.
This is, however, a friendly reminder that the NHL MVP is making less than all of them and that you should put your kids in basketball as soon as possible.
