The general feeling around the sports world is that the Pelicans pulled off one of the greatest heists in sports history by acquiring DeMarcus Cousins from the Kings.
Sure, they gave up an up-and-coming player in Buddy Hield and a couple of draft picks, but they got arguably the NBA's best big man, and the only player that can really challenge him for that title is now his teammate.
As bad as the trade looks on paper and as upset as Kings fans are about it, however, there are three personnel decisions the team has recently made that fans should be way more upset about considering what could have been.
As much as Cousins angered fans at times, he certainly wasn't the problem or reason why the Kings never made the playoffs during his time in Sacramento.
Instead, he was the only reason the team was competitive, and the fact that Sacramento could have had a super-team of their own featuring Cousins, Lillard, Thompson or Leonard, and Thomas should make fans sick to their stomachs.
For the sake of Sacramento fans, we're hoping the old saying "they can only go up from here" holds true, because it's hard to imagine things getting worse.
